CAPLAX COMMISSIONER
The Capital Area Youth Girls Lacrosse League (CAPLAX) is seeking a Commissioner to lead the organization as a
paid contractor.
Job Description:
The Commissioner will be expected to manage the girls youth lacrosse league in Central Texas in accordance
with the organizational charter and the spirit of the CAPLAX mission and Code of Conduct. The Commissioner
will report to the CAPLAX Board and their duties will include:
1. Plan, Schedule, and Conduct League Meetings
2. Develop and maintain a reference contact list of: Program Administrators, Coaches, GDA’s
3. Recruit and facilitate new program entry into the league
4. Develop a Season Budget and facilitate collection of league fees
5. Develop Season Schedule for all divisions
6. Establish and facilitate the League Determination Committee
7. Maintain CAPLAX website with current informative data and necessary reporting (may be outsourced)
8. Establish Social Media and Digital presence for league
9. Assure a host Program is established for the Pre-Season and Post-Season Tournaments
10. Assure insurance coverage for CAPLAX and individual Programs
11. Develop and Implement CAPLAX Strategy
12. Lead contract negotiation with official’s organization (CTWLOO)
13. Maintain legal filings with the Texas State Comptroller and IRS
14. Adjudicate league grievances
15. Enlist the volunteer Program Directors’ support in carrying out agreed responsibilities
16. Provide the CAPLAX Board an End-of-the-Season report
17. Any other duties set forth by the CAPLAX Board
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented with a desire and ability to collaborate
Strong communication and leadership skills
Passion for youth athletics and strong interest in working to grow girl’s lacrosse
Prior business experience or experience as youth sports program coordinator, youth sports volunteer,
or as a lacrosse player or coach is ideal (but not required)
Growth mindset and desire for feedback
Pass an NCSI background check
Education:
Associate/Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
Work Location:
Austin, TX and vicinity and Virtual Meetings
Stipend Range: $3000.00 - $5000.00 based on experience and scope of duties
